Anthony Scilipoti

Anthony and his partners founded Veritas Investment Research in 2000. He is a Fellow Chartered Public Accountant, a Fellow Chartered Accountant, a Certified Public Accountant (Illinois) and a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He is a licenced portfolio manager. Anthony also serves as a member of the Ontario Securities Commission's Continuous Disclosure Advisory Committee since 2006. In 2019, Anthony was appointed to the Board of the Capital Markets Advisory Committee of the International Accounting Standards Board. He is a former member of the Canadian Accounting Standards Board, the CICA's Emerging Issues Committee, and was the Chair of CPA Canada's Users Advisory Committee. @ASclipoti

Dr. Aled ab Iorwerth

Canada Mortgage & Housing Corporation
Aled ab Iorwerth is the deputy chief economist at the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. He has been at CMHC since 2016 where he has led multiple projects looking at the housing market. The 2018 report he led changed the direction of housing policy to renew emphasis on housing supply. He has held a range of research positions in economics in the federal government, including the Department of Finance. Aled holds a PhD in economics from Western University and leadership training from the Said Business School at Oxford University.

As the Proptech Innovation Practice Lead at Accenture, Brian helps organizations understand the changing competitive market landscape of property techs. Previously, he held the position of Senior Vice President of Innovation and Data Solutions for FNF Canada – a Fortune 500 company that operates five business lines within Canada. Brian was responsible for leading innovation across all FNF business lines, successfully launching a new business in data solutions that helped to diversify FNF’s revenue. He was also responsible for establishing new strategic partnerships to drive new revenues along with leading mergers and acquisitions. Brian has also held executive leadership positions with Canada Guaranty as their first Canadian employee, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, Brookfield Financial and Bank of Montreal MasterCard.

Joe is an urban planner and city builder who has had an integral role in complex urban planning and regeneration projects in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Europe and Asia. He has been strategic advisor for the development of the city centres of Manchester, Belfast and Cardiff and for the waterfronts of Toronto, Singapore, Sydney, Cork, London and Governors Island in New York City. He has prepared university campus master plans and is now planning the new hub for Toronto Pearson International Airport. His book ‘Perfect City’ was published by Sutherland House in April 2019. @joe_berridge

Sheila Botting recently joined Avison Young to lead the Americas Professional Services practice and is a member of Avison Young’s Global Real Estate Executive. Throughout her executive real estate career, Sheila has led a number of multi-disciplinary real estate teams and assignments across the industry with owners, investors and corporate occupiers alike, earning the reputation as one of the “go-to” commercial real estate advisors across the Americas. Prior to Avison Young, Sheila was Senior Partner & Canadian Real Estate Leader with Deloitte LLP, and President of Deloitte Real Estate Inc. In this role, she led many substantive assignments around the globe across both public and private sectors, including Deloitte’s own corporate real estate strategy and implementation program across Canada. She also led the real estate valuation team and provided valuation leadership across the firm’s vast real estate audit portfolio. Prior to Deloitte, Sheila was Executive Managing Director of Cushman & Wakefield.

Ron Butler is a veteran mortgage broker. In his multi‐decade career, he has been involved in every facet of the broker channel from private lending to online rate discounting. His eponymous brokerage, Butler Mortgage Inc., is a family business founded with his sons. Sam Cooper is an award-winning Canadian investigative journalist who has presented his findings on corruption, money laundering and transnational crime to law enforcement agencies, legal and financial professionals, and academics, internationally. Cooper graduated with an honors degree in history, philosophy and English from the University of Toronto and a certificate in Journalism from Langara College. He has worked for the Vancouver Province and Vancouver Sun, and Global News. Cooper's first book, Wilful Blindness: How a Criminal network of narcos, tycoons and Chinese Communist Party agents infiltrated the West, is a Canadian best-seller. @scoopercooper

Nigel is an Investment Analyst in Financial Services and joined Veritas in 2016. Refinitiv StarMine ranked him #2 for earnings estimate accuracy for Banks in 2020. He was also ranked sixth overall for stock picking across all industries and analysts by StarMine in 2019, and #1 for the Banks that year. Prior to joining Veritas, Nigel operated a training program for professionals, providing coursework on financial modeling and how to conduct equity research. He also worked at State Street as an associate in Alternative Investment Solutions.

She was named one of Canada's Top 100 Elite Women in Real Estate by the Real Estate Professional magazine in 2016, 2017, and 2019 and is a board member of NAR Reach, an incubator for real estate startups. Prior to joining OJO Labs, Natalka served as the Executive Vice President of Corporate Development at a Toronto-based real estate brokerage. John went to the University of Toronto and graduated with a Philosophy degree and then went to Osgoode Hall Law School to obtain a Law degree. He was called to the bar in 1996. Rather than take a job upon graduation, he started his own firm right out of law school and immediately began practising in real estate. He has been practising exclusively in real estate for more than 25 years. During that time, his firm has expanded with the market and now has four lawyers and about 6 to 8 clerks with a focus almost exclusively on completing real estate transactions, including condominium purchases, home purchases, sales, refinances, acting for institutional and private lenders, and commercial and land purchases.
